I am originally from the metropolitan area of Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in December 1999. I worked as an artist and art conservator in New Orleans, Louisiana for several years before pursuing a career as a full-time artist and mother of one. I presently reside in Long Beach, California.
My artwork has always been a sounding board, providing opportunities for me to examine, evolve, and redefine viewpoints, and how I identify myself as a woman in our ever-changing society. I have been fortunate to have incredible women in my life who have inspired me with their strength, courage, and resilience. Naturally, I make use of these personal relationships to develop and construct my paintings. I am also heavily influenced by the beauty and architecture of the natural world as evidenced by the use of plants and flowers in much of my artwork. Finally, like most artists, I am a product of my environment, shaped by everyday life experiences and events. My work involves painting, printmaking, vintage photographs, and collage from disparate sources.
